Tyson Fury announces multi year deal to fight on BT and ESPN

Frank Warren has just announced a deal which will see Tyson Fury fight in a multi year deal between BT Sport and ESPN. Fury has now had 3 comeback fights and remains undefeated. Having shed many stones in weight and back in a better place mentally, Fury has captured the hearts of boxing fans across the globe. Perhaps delivering one of the moments of the year last year Tyson Fury defied the odds (as he always seems to do) to get up from the canvas after receiving a a devastating combo from Deontay Wilder.

The deal will rival the Matchroom, Sky and DAZN tie up and will ultimately be great for boxing bringing more live fights to more fans. ESPN have millions of subscribers and is one of the biggest sports networks in the country and indeed the world. The tie up is reported to be worth some $80 million dollars and could put paid to a potential match up with Anthony Joshua. Joshua is contracted to fight exclusively on Sky Sports meaning a very large hurdle to be overcome between promoters, fighters and TV networks should they meet in the ring.

No news has come regarding the Fury Wilder rematch but it is expected to be delivered soon with both parties wanting the fight and with Joshua now fighting Miller in New York.

Deontay Wilder… Great guy, top fella, good fighting man. But to me he’s still just a big, useless dosser! – Fury

The tie up between BT and ESPN comes with a new tie up between Frank Warren of Queensbury Promotions and Bob Arum of Top Rank. We now look to more news of Fury’s next opponent which we hope is the aforementioned Wilder. A potential win for Fury could see him then be matched up with Joshua if he can come through the challenge of Miller and a deal can be made.
