Watch: Allen body shot destroys Browne

A big step up for Dave Allen last Saturday night as he took on former WBA heavyweight champion, Lucas Browne. The Doncaster fan favourite has made no secret of his desire to put past lacsadasical performances behind him and in doing so has had what he claims as his first real camp. Both men coming in much better shape than their last outing, befitting of their headline status for the O2.

Browne had the cleaner, more clean work in the early part of the short fight but it was Allen who had perhaps the more clinical work. Culminating in wonderful head movement that opened up a an excuisite and powerful blow behind the elbow of Browne. You could see from Allen’s reaction that he had landed a massive shot, one which Darren Barker revealed they had been working on in camp. Likewise, you could see from the reaction of the Australian native that he would not make the count.

So, what’s next for Dave Allen? He has made no secret that he will take on all comers but you have to feel he needs to progress at the right level otherwise the party could be over. ‘Three fights from Joshua’ is perhaps a little far fetched at this stage yet stranger things have happened. David Price seems most likely for the next outing for Allen or maybe even Chisora. Social media from this last week shows that Dave Allen is back training already and hopes to be out again in July.
