Canelo vs Jacobs unification announced for May 4th
We have had some great announcements at the turn of the new year and the latest one will not disappoint. Saul Canelo Alvarez vs Daniel Jacobs has been announced for May 4th on Cinco de Mayo weekend. Alvarez vs Jacobs unification bout will be for Alvarez’s WBA, WBC, Lineal and Ring magazine belts along with Daniel Jacobs IBF strap.
Three division world champion Canelo will come back down in weight to Middleweight after his recent stint and victory at Super Middleweight against Rocky Fielding. Daniel Jacobs will be looking to build upon victories since his 2017 defeat to Golovkin, which has seen him go on to score 3 consecutive victories over the course of the distance.
Alvarez will no doubt start the favourite in the contest after very strong back to back performances against both Golovkin and Fielding. More details are still to be released including, venue and undercard. One thing confirmed is that the event will be streamed live via DAZN.
