Matchroom Boxing USA sign Otha Jones III

Decorated amateur star Otha Jones III has signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing USA to switch to the pro game. Amassing 280 wins in 300 fights Otha Jones III, or OJ3 as he likes to be called, will begin life in the pro ranks in the Super Lightweight division.

Jones III, 20, is an Ohio native and comes with an amazing amateur background, and while the pro game is very different, the ring craft will no doubt be telling.

Speaking at a news conference yesterday Eddie Hearn said:

We’ve signed some great amateurs, but this gentleman to my right is undoubtedly one of the elite of the amateur setup. Over 300 amateur fights – when you speak to everybody in the amateur game, Otha Jones III is a name that comes right at the top of the list in terms of talent.
